OPERATIVE TREATMENT

This procedure can be done in the early stages of Frozen Shoulder.

The aim of the procedure is to breakdown the thickened capsule that has restricted the range of movement of the shoulder.  This is done under General Anaesthetic and is supplemented by a nerve block which involves injecting local anaesthetic under ultrasound guidance around the nerves that supply the pain fibres to the shoulder.

Shoulder manipulation is usually reserved for people who had frozen shoulder for a short period of time, non diabetics and more commonly in females.

If at the time of manipulation a full range of movement is not achieved we would then proceed onto an arthroscopic Release of Frozen Shoulder
